Abstract
En français, la dénomination de la femme au féminin, qui assure sa visibilité sociale dans les médias écrits, est une conquête des féministes dans le dernier quart du XX e siècle. Elle reste encore mal assurée, spécialement en France, principalement à cause de l'usage toujours dominant du masculin générique. Un rappel de l'essentiel des règles linguistiques qui commandent l'emploi du masculin et du féminin permet d'analyser l'usage qu'adoptent en fait plusieurs écrivaines féministes, deux membres de WIF y comprises. Le but de l'étude est la prise de conscience de nos propres habitudes langagières, de leur dépendance ou indépendance à l'égard de l'unilatéralité masculine, afin de faciliter à tout un chacune la clarification de son discours sur l'humanité.
