Abstract
Alfa Laval has been developing separation technologies based on centifuges for the brewing process for over 100 years. Now as breweries face increasing pressure to improve production efficiency, this technology looks set to play an even more important role. In the following article Peter Rose, Alfa Laval Ltd, UK, discusses how the company's centrifugal separators help commercial brewers improve both the quality and yield of their beer. He also highlights the company's move into crossflow membrane systems, as an alternative to kieselguhr, through its partnership with Sartorius AG, Germany.
