Abstract
A Síndrome de Ansiedade de Separação (SASA) é definida como sendo o conjunto de comportamentos indesejáveis manifestados pelos cães em resposta ao fato de terem sido deixados sozinhos ou afastados da pessoa de referência. Os principais sinais apresentados são: vocalização excessiva, destruição de objetos, defecção e micção em locais inadequados. A hipervinculação do animal à figura de apego é apontada como uma condição necessária à SASA. O diagnóstico deve ser feito com base na história comportamental do cão e descarte de diagnósticos diferenciais, que podem ser de ordem médica ou comportamental. Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar a existência da Síndrome de Ansiedade de Separação (SASA) em cães atendidos na Clínica Veterinária da Universidade Severino Sombra, entre os meses de fevereiro a julho de 2013. Foram encontradas 188 fichas de cães aptos para o estudo e obteve-se um total de 70 responsáveis para fazer parte da amostra do presente estudo. Os resultados mostraram que 31% dos cães apresentavam comportamentos que caracterizam a hipervinculação com seus tutores e 17,1% foram considerados positivos para a SASA. Conclui-se que em relação às demais pesquisas realizadas no Brasil nos últimos anos, a incidência de animais com SASA na Clinica da USS foi relativamente baixa.
