Abstract
Cet article présente les résultats d’une recherche qui a documenté le cheminement socioscolaire d’une quarantaine de jeunes d’origine haïtienne immigrés au Québec après le séisme survenu en Haïti en janvier 2010. Des entretiens individuels ont été réalisés avec les jeunes, quelques parents, des enseignants et des intervenants psychosociaux ou communautaires. Ils ont permis de retracer le vécu socioscolaire des jeunes avant et après l’immigration, les besoins qu’ils ont manifestés à l’arrivée au Québec et les formes de soutien reçues de leur environnement. Les résultats montrent la grande résilience des jeunes qui essaient de surmonter les deuils, les traumas et les séparations générés par le séisme en s’investissant dans leur cheminement scolaire. Plusieurs ont pu s’intégrer remarquablement à l’école québécoise. D’autres présentent un cumul de vulnérabilités. Cet article discute de ces résultats.
