Abstract
A drop in follicular pressure detected by transrectal tonometry and ultrasonographic detection of separation of the layers of the follicular wall indicates impending ovulation in both natural and hormonally manipulated estrus. In early estrus, the administration of hCG accelerates follicular growth and the onset of follicular softening, but does not induce an increase in follicular wall thickness.
