Cette revue de littérature porte sur la référence virtuelle par clavardage et messagerie instantanée. Les compétences requises des bibliothécaires sont présentées. L’évolution du rôle éducatif du bibliothécaire avec l’avènement de la référence par clavardage est également décrite. Nous portons attention aux particularités de ce nouvel environnement de travail.
