Abstract
The article is devoted to the relations between the Province of Quebec (the only francophone province of Canada) and the United States its only foreign neighbor. There are two key directions in Quebec international activity / paradiplomacy and those relations are one of them. The article deals with the features of those relations, first of all their distinctions from the relations with France which represent the second key direction of Quebec paradiplomacy. The article deals with the initial stage of Que-bec-USA contacts and their further development since the beginning of 1940s till present. It analyses the main aspects of those relations, first of all economic and political aspects. The article analyses the difference in the position of main political parties of Quebec: liberal (i.e. federalist), Union nationale and Parti quebecois towards the Quebec-USA relations. The article shows the importance of those relations for Quebec and its identifying paradiplomacy. The article also deals with the role of «U.S. factor» for Quebec politics (including sovereignty project) of the last decades of the 20th century and of the beginning of the 21st century. Refs 15.
