Abstract
Le romancier Louis Hamelin entretient des liens étroits avec les écrivains américains et notamment avec ceux issus de l’école du « Nature Writing », une tradition qui remonte à Henry David Thoreau et à laquelle appartiennent de nombreux auteurs associés à l’expression des grands espaces sauvages, comme John Muir, Edward Abbey, Annie Dillard et Jim Harrison. Le but de cette communication est de montrer comment certains romans de Louis Hamelin, notamment La rage (1989), Betsi Larousse (1994), Le joueur de flûte (2001) et Sauvages (2006), s’inscrivent directement dans cette tradition, dont ils reproduisent les principales caractéristiques tout en transposant ces dernières dans le contexte québécois en général et de la régionalité en particulier.
