Abstract
Meso-tetrakis( 4-chlorosulfophenyl) porphyrin( 2) was prepared by the reaction of pyrrole with benzaldehyde,and then chlorosulfonated. meso-Tetrakis( 4-tetradecylaminosulfophenyl) porphyrin( 3) was synthesized by the reaction of 2 with n-tetradecylamine. The metal coordination complex( 4) was synthesized by coordination reaction of 3 with cadmium acetate. 3 and 4 were new copmpounds and the structures were characterized by UV-Vis,1H NMR and IR. Liquid crystalline properties of 3 and 4 were investigated by polarization microscope and DSC. The results showed that 3 and 4 exhibit the speciality of liquid crystal behavior.
