Abstract: The simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatographic technique has been used to separate the xylitol mother liquor into xylitol component. In the frame of equilibrium theory , characterized by purity and recovery, a new method is presented to study the influences of inlet and outlet flow - rate upon the 8MB performance by using a simplified mathematical model of the corresponding true moving bed (1MB) . Then, the operation condi-tions are optimized by computer simulation with the method and the satisfaction result is got . By using a 8MB equipment of our lab , 100% purities and recoveries in the xylose and xylitol product liquor are obtained ac-cording to the optimized operation conditions.
