Abstract
Academician Fu Tingdong recently discovered a rod-like rapeseed(Brassica napus L.) mutant from a DH population derived from F1 of 5148-2(a Chinese line)×YN90-1016(a Canadian yellow-seeded line bred by microspore culture).Morphology of the rod-like mutant showed characteristics of short-stalk,compact plant shape,short fascicled main inflorescence as well as primary branches,short flowering time with resistance to silique shattering.The mutant is suitable for planting with high density by direct sowing and it is useful for machinery operation at harvesting time.A preliminary result of its genetic and molecular identification by SSR was reported in this paper.
