Objective:To explore effect of different field strength electromagnetic pulse(EMP) irradiation on testicular structure in mice.Methods:A total of 114 male Kunming mice were randomly divided into irradiated groups and control group,pathological changes in testis and epididymis were observed at 6?h,and on d?1,d?3,d?7,d?14 and d?28 after the mice were irradiated generally by 8×10 3?V/m,2×10 4?V/m and 6×10 4?V/m electromagnetic pulse (EMP)respectively for five times.Results:It was showed that EMP irradiation caused no significant increase in rectal and scrotal skin temperature,but it caused striking edema,necrosis and shedding of spermatogenic cells, scarceness and deletion of mature sperm within seminiferous tubule.Spermatogenous cells and spermatids were the most sensitive cells,lesion of peripheral seminiferous tubules in the testis was most obvious,severity of lesion was positively correlated to field strength.Conclusion:The results suggest that EMP irradiation cause severe non_thermal spermatogenic cell structural injury in mice testis.
