Abstract
The patents related to cellulosic ethanol have been retrieved in Derwent Innovation Index(DII) and Chinese Patent databases,and the assignees,the content and the transfer of these patents are summarized and analyzed in this paper.There are about 140 patents in DII and about 20 patents in Chinese Patent databases related to cellulosic ethanol,and the application and publication of them are mainly in the United States,Japan,China,Australia,Canada and Brazil,and the patent amount in US is beyond that in the other five countries.The most of assignees in DII are incorporations of biotechnology and universities,while the Chinese assignees are universities and institutes.Currently some of these patents have been used in the commercial plants in different countries.
