Abstract
The administration building of West China Hospital Sichuan University was designed by Canadian experts,and Built in 1942.The structure has been used for more than 60 years and exceed the design working life.Whereas the structure is the representative building of the Sichuan University,strengthening of main structure and retrofitting exterior of the building for protecting is necessary.The brick walls are strengthened with reinforcing mesh,to replace the original wooden ceiling and roof frame.The examination shows that the strengths of the members after strengthening meet the demands of design.The design schemes,simplified calculation formulas and local constructions of the methods are presented.
