Abstract
The short story The Loons by Margaret Laurence describes the tragic life of a Metis girl, Piquette Tonnerre, who longs for the cultural acceptance by the white Canadian's mainstream. In the story, applying the narrative techniques of point of view and time and space art, Margaret Laurence constructs her special literature style and strengthens the performative power of the literature in the meantime. By looking into the author's narrative techniques, readers may better comprehend the marginalized races'struggle and their cultural loss in the process of post-colonization and post-modernization.
