Abstract
A stress analysis on the vessel including a big fault between the head and the cylinder was made by means of FEM The stress distribution in the fault area was obtained and the structure was assessed based on the standard of stress intensity analysis The result showed that the stress located in the fault area contented with the stress intensity principle Then, the vessels with different size of fault have been analyzed At last, the fault tolerance was discussed,and it gave a little engineering significance for the estimation of the usability of a in-service vessel including faults
