Effects of Water Soluble Extract of Maize Leaf on the Germination and the Growth of Five Weed Seeds

Abstract
An experiment was carried out to explore effects of water soluble extract of maize leaf on the seed germination and seedling growth of Vicia gigantean bge,Geranium carolinianum L.,Galium tricorne stroke,Avena fatua L. and Galium aparine L. The results showed that the water soluble extract of maize leaf inhabited the seed germination of five weeds,except the concentrations under 20 g /L which increased the seed germination rate of Vicia gigantean bge and Galium aparine L.; the root length,shoot length and relative dry seedling weight of five weeds decreased significantly with the increased of water soluble extract concentration of maize leaf,and there was a negative correlation between the root length,shoot length and the water soluble extract concentration of maize leaf.
