In this study,we observed the morphological changes of starch granules in triticale,wheat and rye during seeds development,germination and enzymatic treatments by using scanning electron microscopy.We found that the pericarp tissue was the major site of starch deposition during early seed development.In the endosperm,the starch granules were rapidly accumulating after 6 days post anthesis(DPA).The equatorial groove and pits on the surface of triticale,wheat and rye starch granules were more susceptible to the enzymatic hydrolysis than the broad or flat surfaces.There was a significantly positive correlation on the hydrolysis efficiency to the percentage of large granules in native starch granules.
