Abstract
With the expansion of the network and E-commerce, Digital Rights Management(DRM) becomes more significant in protecting any types of digital products and in controlling the distribution and usage of them. However, there are currentlyno complete solutions for DRM systems. In this paper, the basic concepts and the major requirements for DRM were reviewed at first. Secondly, the main components ofthe existing DRM architecture and the limitation shared by all current DRM systems were pointed out. As a solution, a three-layer architecture for DRM systems was proposed and the layers in this system were defined. Afterwards, the relations between the proposed architecture and the existing architecture were presented and some features of the three-layer architecture were introduced. Finally, the future work on DRM was described.
