Abstract
As a social phenomena existing around the world,religions have played a key role in people' s life,in terms of politics,economy and culture.The Roman Catholic Church came into Canada when New France was established under the rule of the French empire.As a result of the British Conquest of 1763, France was forced to cede New France to Great Britain,thus it became a British colony.This transference of French rule to Britain' s had a unique significance in the early history of Canada,because it exerted farreaching influences upon the country's formation.The Roman Catholic Church suffered a lot from this great change,but it still tried to remain its importance in Canada.
