Objective: To observe the effects of electroacupuncture at Du meridian on central pain after spinal cord injury.Methods: 36 patients with central pain after spinal cord injury were randomly divided into an observation group( 18 cases) and a control group( 18 cases). Treatment group received electroacupuncture at Du meridian; and control group took oral fluoxetine hydrochloride treatment. Two groups were treated for 4 consecutive weeks. Pre- and post- treatment evaluations were made using the Simplified Mcgill Pain Questionnaire,the Visual Analogous Scale( VAS) and the Self- rating Depression Scale( SDS). Results: At the end of the treatment course,all pain parameter values were decreased( P 0. 01) and the Self- rating Depression Scale( SDS) was decreased markedly( P 0. 01). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture at Du meridian treatment for central pain after spinal cord injury is more advantageous than meditation.
