French immersion program is an innovation to traditional second language/foreign language teaching approaches.It originated in Canada and spreads to many countries.This paper introduces the development and the teaching models and approaches of the program and discusses the factors contributing to the success of the program.And then it makes a Comparison between Canadian and Chinese bilingual education.The author holds that only when the Canadian successful bilingual education is combined with China's national conditions can Chinese bilingual education be successful.
