Abstract
Objective To investigate the instant effect of transvenous catheter pulmonary vein cryoisolation.Methods Twenty patients with atrial fibrillation,including 16 paroxysmal and 4 persistent atrial fibrillation,underwent pulmonary vein cryoisolation using an Arctic Circler catheter(CryoCath Technologies Inc.,Quebec,Canada).Results A total of 57 pulmonary veins were isolated and each vein was ablated for(5.64±2.57) times in average.Operation time was(265.88±52.20) min,and X-ray expoure time was(43.42±17.23) min.Two persistent atrial fibrillation stopped during the procedures,and the other 2 patients needed electroversion after ablation.The pulmonary vein potential recovered in 7(7/57,12.28%) pulmonary veins in 30 min.The further ablation was needed in these veins.Conclusion Transvenous catheter pulmonary vein cryoisolation for treatment of atrial fibrillation is effective instantly.The waiting time after isolation is needed for reducing recurrence.
