Abstract
award-winning novel The Handmaid's Tale by the Canadian writer Margaret Atwood is a dystopia criticizing the current society.The novel unfolds a variety of including boundaries between classes and sexes as well as geographical,physical,psychological and emotional boundaries,which recur in different sections of the novel.The rulers and the ruled of Gilead fight against each other in the politics of boundaries: namely the construction,preservation,observation and subversion of the boundaries.The insight into the politics of enables the author to have successfully portrayed the dystopian empire Gilead and its victims,which manifests her great concerns about the reality and future of the human society.
