Effects of pH on chlorophyll fl uorescence characteristics of two Syringa under water-logging stress

Abstract
In order to study the responses of Syringa to acid and alkali stress under the condition of water-logging stress, Syringa oblataand Syringa microphylla were taken a the tested materials, the potted culture experiments were conducted and the effects of 5 kinds of pH conditions on the chlorophyll content and chlorophyll fl uorescence characteristics of S.oblata and S.microphylla were studied. The results show that under the stress of water-logging, S.oblata's relative chlorophyll content decreased with fastest speed under alkaline stress, the extent of photoinhibition was strong under two stresses, the photosynthetic electron transfer rate was slower under acidic stress, no signifi cant changes in heat dissipation; S.microphylla's relative chlorophyll content decreased fastest under acidic stress, the heat dissipation increased fastest, the extent of photoinhibition was weaker under two stresses. Acid resistance of S. oblata's was strong and the alkaline resistance of S.microphylla's was strong under the stress of water-logging.
