Abstract
Phase change materials(PCM) are substances having capabilities of storing or releasing substantial amounts of energy via their phase changes and being widely used for heat storages and related applications.They have been playing an increasingly important role as energy storage medias in improving heat transfer efficiencies and exploring the utilization of low density energy resources.The PCMs can be dispersed into heat transfer fluids and stabilized by surfactants to form micro/nano emulsions.The PCM emulsions act as functionally latent thermal fluids for highly thermal energy storage and heat transfer enhancement.This review presents the study on preparation and properties of the PCM emulsions.Stability,thermophysical property,and rheology of the PCM emulsions are emphasized.The applications and prospective research focus on the PCM emulsions are also elaborated.
