Ionic liquids have exhibited unique selective dissolution and absorption properties and provide new ways for gas separation and purification.Immobilizing ionic liquid into polymers or porous inorganic supports generates the so-called immobilized or supported ionic liquids which possess the advantages of both the ionic liquids and the support materials.For applications in gas separation,they are characterized by continuous process,competitive or lower cost,higher sorption and disorption rate.In this paper,the research progresses in the applications of the immobilized ionic liquids including particles and membranes in the gas separation and purification are reviewed.
