Study on Eliminating Physiological Dormancy and Germination of Pittosporum tobira (Pittosporaceae) Seeds.
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The dormancy and germination of ornamental Pittosporum tobira seeds were adequately investigated in this study. The embryos of almost fresh seeds(98%) were dyed red,but only a small part of fresh seeds could germinate at range of constant temperatures(10,15,20,25℃and 30℃) and altering temperature(25/15℃).Two GA3 solutions(e.g.,100mM and 200mM) slightly promoted fresh seeds to germinate, the highest germination rate was 41% at 25/15℃ with 200mM.After cold stratification at 5℃ for 90d,the germination was significantly enhanced to 84% and 95% after 60d and 90d at 25℃ and 25/15℃,respectively.Interestingly,seeds germination percentages would increased to 69% and 94% at 25/15℃,which were stratified for 30d and 40d in light, respectively. The results indicated that seeds of this specie with non-deep physiological dormancy, which could be broken by cold stratification, but the treatments with only GA3 solutions didn't break dormancy, the treatments by 200mM of GA3 solution combined with cold stratification for some days(e.g.,30d or 40d) also significantly facilitated the germination. Also, temperature directly affected the germination of non-dormant seeds.Among a few temperatures, the altering tepmperature treatment of 25/15℃ was optimum for its germination in light, which the final germination percentage was more than 90%,followed by that of 25℃.This study indicated that the physiological dormant mechanism might block the germination in natural environments.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
