Abstract

In this paper, a novel face detection approach, which combines skin detection and cell-divided feature verifying method, is presented to detect the faces in static color image with complex scenes. First, the facial features are extracted from the skin candidate regions, then the human face is defined by cell-divided feature verifying method. The proposed face detection system can detect human faces of multiangle and multiscale under different lighting conditions in color images with complex background, and expression changes are tolerated.
