Abstract
The recent book by W.J.Keith(Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Professor of English at Toronto),Canadian Literature in English (2volumes),published in December 2006by the well-known Porcupine's Quill Press specializing in publishing Canadian literary works,gives an authoritative account of the birth and development of Canadian literature.This study offers a comprehensive assessment of the achievements of Canadian fiction,poetry,drama,and criticism during various historical periods.Its judicious comments on all the significant Canadian writers and their major works depict accurately the literary landscape of Canadian literature.Keith's insights help us to see the connection between the past and the present of this new and rising literature.
