Abstract
It was effective to hasten the breaking of the epicotyl dormancy after the peony seeds were treated with physical and chemical methods when the length of the roots of the seeds reached to 5 cm. The germination ratio was 90.1% and the germination time of seeds was 45 d when peony seeds were treated by 200 mg/L GA3 for 2 h. The germination ratio was 70.0% and the germination time of seeds was 70 d when peony seeds were stored in 4 ℃ for 20 d. But the germination ratio of seeds which growed in the field was 52.0% and the germination time was 190 d.
