647 butterfly samples in Tianzhu of Gansu Province were identified and analyzed by the methods of sample collecting and evaluation.As indicated by the results,butterflies investigated and identified in this area respectively belonged to 4 species 1 genera of Parnassidae,20 species 6 genera of Pieridae,16 species 12 genera of Satyridae,12 species 10 genera of Nymphalidae,5 species 4 genera of Lycaenidae. The analysis of butterfly faunal and composition suggested that there were 13 species of both Palaearctic realm and Oriental realm,which took up 22. 81%of the total species number; 44 species Palaearctic realm and the number of the species Pieridae took up 77. 19% of the total species number.
