Abstract
To test the effects of water hyacinth(Eichhornia crassipes Solms) on germination and seedling growth of another plants in wetland,aqueous extracts from root,stem,leaf and flower of water hyacinth were applied to yellow flag(Iris pseudoacorus L.).The results showed that aqueous extracts from different parts of water hyacinth had strong inhibition on germination of yellow flag,and the effects would become stronger belong with the increased treatment concentration of aqueous extracts.Under the same concentration,the order of inhibit effect was flowerleafstemroot from strong to weak.Germination percentage,germination potential and germination index decreased significantly,and the seedling growth is restrained on treated by flower aqueous extracts.The study shows that the interaction between plants must be considered in artificial wetland,especially the inhibitory effect of invasion.
