Europium complexed monomer(ECM) was prepared by a mixture of EuCl3,thenoyltrifuoroacetone(TTA),acrylic acid(AA) and 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) and then two copolymers of poly(methyl methacrylate(MMA)-co-ECM)(molar ratio for ECM/MMA,1/60 and 1/30),which grafted with Europium complex as light-emiting unit,were synthesized.The structures were characterized by FT-IR,1HNMR.The maximum absorption and emission wavelength of ECM were at 341nm and 613nm respectively.The emission spectra of the copolymers consisted of two emission bands,one between 350~500nm and the other centered at 613nm between 602~630nm,corresponding to f-f* transitions of europium ions.Emission of Europium ions not only originated from energy transfer of ligands in ECM but also from Frster energy transfer of the main chain of polymers.This kinds of polymers exhibited desirable luminescence,solubility and dispersion.Abstract:Europium complexed monomer(ECM) was pre-pared by a mixture of EuCl3,thenoyltrifuoroacetone(TTA),acrylic acid(AA) and 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) and then two copolymers of poly(methyl methacry-late(MMA)-co-ECM)(molar ratio for ECM/MMA,1/60 and 1/30),which grafted with Europium complex as light-emiting unit,were synthesized.The structures were char-acterized by FT-IR,1HNMR.The maximum absorption and emission wavelength of ECM were at 341nm and 613nm respectively.The emission spectra of the copoly-mers consisted of two emission bands,one between 350 ~ 500nm and the other centered at 613nm between 602 ~ 630nm,corresponding to f-f*transitions of europium ions.Emission of Europium ions not only originated from energy transfer of ligands in ECM but also from F rster energy transfer of the main chain of polymers.This kinds of polymers
