Abstract
Objective To explore the relation between college students' alexithymia and mental health.Methods With Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS)and Symptom Check List 90(SCL-90),a questionnaire investigation was conducted among 458 college students.Results College students' total score of Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS)and scores of each factor were all higher than the norm,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.01).College students' total score of Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS)and scores of Factor III were significantly correlated with those of Symptom Check List 90(SCL-90)and its factors(P0.01 or P0.05).Conclusions Alexithmia is commonly found in college students,and moreover,alexithmia has a close relationship with mental health.More attention should be paid on the consultant and tutorial according to different problems that students have,so as to improve college students' mental health.
