Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of manipulation plus low frequency electrotherapy on athletes with acute closed soft tissue injury. Methods 60 athletes with acute closed soft tissue injury caused by training were divided into control group (n=30, received conventional RICE therapy) and therapy group (n=30, received manipulation plus low frequency electrotherapy). After 2 courses of treatment (7 days as a course of treatment), the McGill pain questionnaire was used to evaluate the pain relief and clinical effects before and after treatment. Results The scores of McGill pain questionnaire decreased after treatment in the two groups. The pain relief index (0.61±0.14), excellent and good rate (66.7%), and total effective rate (93.3%) in therapy group were significantly higher than those in control group (0.52 ± 0.17,40.00%,83.33%, respectively) after treatment (P 0.05). Conclusion Manipulation plus low frequency electrotherapy can obviously relieve the pain symptom of athletes with acute closed soft tissue injury, and the excellent and good rate and total effective rate were higher than those in control group.
