Did State-owned Commercial Banks' Exit from Rural Area Deteriorate the Rural Finance?

Abstract
The reform of rural financial system began from 1996 that made China's rural finance a series of changes.Among all the reform measures,state-owned commercial banks' strategic shrinkage from rural market had received the widest attention,and one of influential point of views is that this measure deteriorated the rural finance.In order to verify the accuracy of that opinion,firstly,we select the quarter data of China' rural financial development and rural economic growth from 1985-2008,and then we take the year of 1997 as the transition point to research the problem.The results show that the rural financial reforms didn't bring significant changes to rural finance,and rural financial market had not deteriorated significantly.At last,we explain the result from the angle of farmers credit and rural credit cooperatives.
