Preliminary Study on Seedborne Fungi of Rootstock for Watermelon Grafting

Abstract
Fourteen varieties of rootstock seeds for watermelon grafting were collected to detect seedborne fungi by the methods of washing test and PDA plate test.The results showed that Fusarium spp.,Alternaria spp.,Penicillium spp.,Aspergillus spp and Rhizopus spp.were the main seedborne fungi on the seed surface,Alternaria spp.,Fusarium spp.,Penicillium spp.,Aspergillus spp.represented the main internally seedborne fungi,and Fusarium spp.found inside seeds was the first report in China.The fungi on the surface of seeds were significantly different from each other,but the internally seedborne fungi showed no obvious difference.The rate of seed coat with fungi was higher than that of seed embryo.
