Abstract
La représentation du père est au coeur de cette étude de L’amour, la fantasia (1985) et de Nulle part dans la maison de mon père (2007), deux romans autobiographiques d’Assia Djebar, romancière d’origine algérienne et membre de l’Académie française de 2005 jusqu’à sa mort en 2015. Cette analyse examine la personnalité de Tahar, son évolution, l’influence qu’il a exercée sur sa fille, dans des circonstances différentes de sa vie, et notamment dans ses rapports avec la gent masculine. Tiraillée entre sa soif de liberté et son amour pour son père, la narratrice de Djebar compare Tahar à d’autres figures paternelles, européennes et arabes, en Algérie. Éduquée en français grâce à ce père culturellement hybride, Fatima exprime sa reconnaissance tout comme ses regrets, dont son aliénation vis-à-vis des autres femmes arabes, son manque de maîtrise de la langue arabe et la rigueur puritaine du père censeur, entrave à son plein épanouissement.
