This paper analyzed the process and mechanism of territorial function formation and evolution in Liaoning central area.Conclusion as followed:In the three forces of the government,the market and individual driven,and combined effects of the process of the traditional factors and new factors in Liaoning central area,from the sparse distribution of some small towns to integration-intensive layout of guided by core city,the territorial function was from unitary,occlusive,simplistic to comprehensive,openness and specialization,undergoing continuous evolution from simple to complex,from lower to higher,and played an important leading role in the revitalize old industrial bases in Northeast China.
