Abstract
This paper analyses the linear relationships between the cross-sectional absolute deviation and the market average revenue in the 2004-2008 period to determine the herding behavior of the Chinese mutual funds. The research uses the CCK empirical model as the basic framework, and collects data from the first quarter of 2004 to the fourth quarter of 2008. The results provide evidence for mutual fund herding not only in the growing process, but also in the declining period. The reasons lie in lack of market-based system, excessive intervention, imperfect information, and listed companies and investors.
