Abstract

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of ottawa ankle rules(OAR) for ankle injuries.Methods The results of 159 patients with ankle injuries examined by OAR were compared with that by X-ray.Results For all fracture,the OAR gave an sensitivity of l00%,specificity of 45.11%,positive predictive value of 26.26%,accuracy of 54.09%.Its use could reduce the number of unnecessary radiographs by 38%.Conclusion OAR is simple in application and has very high sensitivity in detecting fracture,application of OAR significantly reduce the number of unnecessary radiographs.
