Accuracy comparison of engineering methods for calculating dynamic time history response of vibration-isolated buildings

Abstract
A practical engineering method for calculating time domain dynamic response of non-proportionally damped MDOF isolated structure is suggested, based on the response decoupling effect of isolation system. Taking a real isolated building as numerical example, the seismic response is calculated using this method, and the result is compared with those from complex mode super- position method, Wilson-θ method,and Simulink method in Matlab. The displacement,velocity, and acceleration response curves obtained from these four methods agree with each other very well, and the peak value response has high accuracy under design damping.
