Abstract
The tertiary amine hydrogen donor is immobilized to the hydroxylated substrate surface by silanization of N,N-dimethyl-3-aminopropyl trimethoxysilane( DATS),and subsequently photoinduces the grafting polymerization of zwitterionic monomer MPC in combination with benzophenone( BP) in solution. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy( XPS) is used to monitor the chemical changes on the glass surface. Dynamic and static water contact angles are used to study the hydrophiliphic /hydrophobic properties. Protein adsorption and blood platelet experiments are used to evaluate the antifouling properties. The result shows that a transitional organic-inorganic thin hybrid coating rich in tertiary amine groups is formed on the hydroxylated substrate surface. After photografting of MPC,the XPS signals for nitrogen and phosphorus element appears at 400. 2 eV and 131. 6 eV,respectively,and the content of Si on the surface evidently decreases simultaneously. Moreover,the change of water contact angle for substrate surface before and after photografting can also indicate thesuccessful fabrication of zwitterionic polymer brushes. The absorption of proteins on the obtained zwitterionic surface greatly reduces by 91. 3% ~ 92. 4% and almost no platelets adhesion occurs. The silane agent containing tertiary amine functional groups can not only provide the radical source for photografting polymerization but also enhance the adhesion between polymer coatings and the substrate surface,which is beneficial to the further study the relationship between stability of the coatings and the resulting blood compatibility.
