Abstract
This paper gave a general overview of the nanotechnology. Following solid state technology and biotechnology, nanotechnology may initiate the next industrial revolution. The forest products industry is a well developed traditional industry though, application of nanomaterials would help the industry making new breakthroughs. The forest products industry would hence greatly benefit from the nanotechnology. The research advances and applications of nanotechnology in the United States, Canada, and Europe were introduced. Accordingly, the potential research directions in China's wood industry were proposed.
