Abstract
Canada is an immigrant country,and so both the social condition and the feminist consciousness of Canadian women have their own development.In this essay,a discussion is made on the social condition of Canadian immigrant women before the 20th century and the development of their feminist consciousness,and an analysis is made on some historical reasons for the slow formation of the Canadian feminist consciousness.Radical changes in Canadian women′s social contion by the end of the 19th century,as well as an unprecedented awakening of the feminist consciousness,served as a solid foundation for the rise of feminism and highly advanced women's liberation in Canada during the 20th century.
