Abstract
In the War of Resistance against Japan, a breakthrough took place in the China-Canada relations. The official diplomatic relations at the envoy level were established in 1941 and upgraded to the ambassador level later. Meanwhile, China and Canada engaged in co-operation and engendered interaction between them in the following political fields: abolishment of Canada’s exterritoriality in China; Chinese immigration to Canada. Moreover, the Canadian government was faced with such issues as the ways to evaluate and deal with the KMT regime and Canada’s position and role in post-war China. In my opinion, the establishment of the official diplomatic relations was based on the mutual needs in the War; it exerted a positive influence on them in various aspects; it provided two countries with a high-level contact channel, but the relations between them did not change dramatically in nature.
