Abstract
Objective To explore the factors influencing alexithymia of patients with depression in period of onset.Methods A total of 80 patients with depression were assessed with Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS) and Beck Depression Inventory(BDI),and 95 healthy people were involved as controls.Results(1)Major depressive patients showed significantly higher scores in TAS-I,II,III,total scores of TAS and BDI than those of healthy controls(P0.01).(2)In major depressive patients,the factors of communication with others in hospital and total scores of BDI entered the TAS-I regression equation in turn.The factors of total scores of BDI,stress in work and study and gender entered the TAS-II regression equation in turn.The factors of education years,communication with others in hospital entered the TAS-III regression equation in turn.The factors of total score of BDI and confidence to treatment entered the total score of TAS regression equation in turn.Conclusion Major depressive patients would suffer from significant alexithymia.The gender,education years and the severity of depression are responsible for alexithymia,and the influencing factors contributing to each factor of TAS are different.
