Abstract
Power and Interdependence issued in 1977 is the cornerstone of new liberal—institutionalism. The mode of complex interdependence of the book is regarded as one of the most explanatory theory. The content of the book is divided into two parts which are theory and reality. In the first part, the author analyses the meaning of interdependence, the ideal mode of complex interdependence and the relationship between power and interdependence. In the second part, in order to verify his theory, the author expounds the evolution of international institution in many aspects such as the field of ocean, the field of international currency, the relationship between USA and Canada, the relationship between USA and Australia and so on. The vitals of the issue is to answer the question of which how to operate international institution in the interdependent world.
