Abstract
This paper is based on some observations and reflections on Canadian post-secondary distance education in terms of types,policies,modes of teaching and learning,teaching media selection,courses development and maintenance,management,quality control and evaluation.In comparison, the author puts forward four implications for Guangdong's distance education:1)to establish Guangdong Open University suppoted by local government 2)to build a system of course recognition and credit transferability 3)to establish and maintain a distance education consortium in Guangdong 4)to strength international cooperation in distance education.
